The Arc of Bartholomew County is a non-profit organization providing advocacy and resources to people with disabilities and their families.
Created in 1956, The Arc of Bartholomew County's purpose is:
- to promote the general welfare of individuals with disabilities of all ages in Bartholomew County.
- to serve as an advocate for persons with disabilities.
- to promote the development, implementation and improvement of services and programs for people with disabilities.
- to secure for all people with disabilities the opportunity to choose and realize their goals of where and how they learn, live, work and play.
- to aid, advise, counsel and support people with disabilities and their families.
- to serve as a clearinghouse for gathering and disseminating information regarding disabilities.
- to reduce the incidence and limit the consequence of developmental disabilities through education, research, advocacy and the support of family, friends and community.
- to develop a better understanding of the difficulties of disabilities by the public and to cooperate with all public, private, religious and professional groups on behalf of people with disabilities.
- to provide leadership in the field of disabilities and develop the necessary human and financial resources to attain these purposes.
